Renting a Car in Dubai with Cryptocurrency: How It Works
Published 7 April 2026
Yes, You Can Rent a Supercar in Dubai with Crypto
Dubai has been at the forefront of cryptocurrency adoption in the Middle East since the Dubai Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) was established in 2022. The city now has more crypto-friendly businesses than any other Gulf state, and luxury car rental is one of the sectors where crypto payments have become a genuine option rather than a marketing gimmick.
At LuxeClub Rentals, we accept cryptocurrency for any vehicle in our fleet — from an Audi RS3 at AED 1,000 a day to a Lamborghini Revuelto at AED 12,000 a day. You pay the reservation fee in crypto at booking, and the remaining balance is settled on pickup day. The process works through NOWPayments, a regulated payment processor that handles the conversion and settlement.
This guide walks you through exactly how it works: which coins we accept, what the process looks like step by step, what the fees are, and what to watch out for.
Which Cryptocurrencies Are Accepted
We accept all major cryptocurrencies through our NOWPayments integration. The most commonly used by our customers are:
Bitcoin (BTC) — the most popular choice, used by roughly 60% of our crypto-paying customers. Transactions take 10–30 minutes to confirm on the Bitcoin network.
Ethereum (ETH) — the second most popular. Faster confirmation times than Bitcoin, typically 2–5 minutes.
USDT (Tether) — a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar. Popular with customers who want to avoid the price volatility of BTC or ETH during the payment window. If you are holding USDT already, this is the simplest option because there is no exchange rate risk between the moment you authorise the payment and the moment it confirms.
Beyond these three, NOWPayments supports over 200 cryptocurrencies including Litecoin (LTC), Ripple (XRP), Solana (SOL), Polygon (MATIC), and others. If your preferred coin is supported by NOWPayments, we can accept it.
The payment is always priced in AED (the local UAE currency). NOWPayments converts at the live exchange rate at the moment you confirm the transaction. There is no markup from LuxeClub on the conversion — the rate you see is the rate you pay.
Step-by-Step: How to Book and Pay with Crypto
The process is straightforward and takes about 10 minutes total:
Step 1 — Choose your car and dates. Browse the fleet at luxeclubrentals.com/catalogue, pick the vehicle you want, and select your rental dates, delivery preferences, and deposit choice. This is the same process as a card booking.
Step 2 — Select cryptocurrency as your payment method. On the payment step of the booking wizard, choose "Crypto" instead of card or cash. You will see the AED 495 reservation fee displayed (or the full booking total if it is less than AED 495).
Step 3 — Complete the NOWPayments invoice. You will be redirected to a NOWPayments hosted payment page. Choose your coin (BTC, ETH, USDT, or any other supported crypto), and you will see the exact amount to send and the wallet address to send it to. The invoice has a time window — typically 20 minutes — during which the exchange rate is locked.
Step 4 — Send the payment from your wallet. Open your crypto wallet (Metamask, Trust Wallet, Ledger, Coinbase, Binance — any wallet works), paste the address, and send the exact amount shown. Wait for the network to confirm.
Step 5 — Confirmation. Once the payment confirms on the blockchain, your booking status updates automatically to confirmed. You will receive a confirmation email with your booking reference, the car details, and the remaining balance due on pickup day.
Step 6 — Pickup day. Arrive at the agreed delivery location. Pay the remaining balance in person — this can be cash, card, or bank transfer. The reservation fee you already paid in crypto is deducted from the total.
The whole process is automated. No manual intervention, no back-and-forth emails, no need to call us to confirm the crypto went through.
Fees and Exchange Rates
There is no payment processing surcharge on crypto transactions at LuxeClub — unlike card payments which carry a 3–5% processing fee. This makes crypto one of the cheapest ways to pay for a rental.
The exchange rate is set by NOWPayments at the moment you confirm the transaction. It uses a live market rate aggregated from major exchanges (Binance, Coinbase, Kraken). There is a small NOWPayments network fee (typically 0.5–1%) built into the conversion, which is standard across all crypto payment processors.
The volatility caveat: if you pay with BTC or ETH (which fluctuate in value), the AED amount is locked at the moment you send the payment. You will not be charged more if the price drops after you pay, and you will not receive a discount if it rises. If you want to eliminate volatility entirely, pay with USDT — it is pegged to the US dollar and the conversion to AED is stable.
Gas fees (the blockchain transaction fee) are paid by you as the sender. On Ethereum this can be AED 5–50 depending on network congestion. On Bitcoin it is typically AED 5–20. On Solana or Polygon it is fractions of a dirham. Factor this in when choosing which coin to pay with.
Why Crypto Customers Choose Dubai for Supercar Rentals
Dubai has become a hub for cryptocurrency holders for reasons that go well beyond car rental. The UAE has no personal income tax, VARA provides a clear regulatory framework for virtual assets, and the city has attracted a significant population of crypto-wealthy residents and visitors since 2021.
Many of our crypto-paying customers fall into one of three categories. The first is the relocated crypto professional — someone who moved to Dubai for the tax environment and now lives here, holding most of their wealth in digital assets. For them, paying for a Bentley Bentayga monthly rental in USDT is simply how they transact, the same way they pay their rent or restaurant bills.
The second is the visiting crypto holder — someone in town for a blockchain conference (Dubai hosts Token2049, Blockchain Economy, and several others annually) who wants a Lamborghini Huracan for the week of the event. They have ETH in their Metamask and prefer not to convert to fiat for a short trip.
The third is the privacy-conscious customer who prefers crypto transactions over card transactions for personal reasons. We do not ask why — we simply accept the payment and deliver the car.
Dubai is one of the very few cities in the world where you can fly in, rent a supercar with Bitcoin, fill it with petrol paid by card, and drive to a restaurant that accepts USDT — all within the same afternoon. The infrastructure exists because the government wanted it to exist.
Cancellation and Refund Policy for Crypto Payments
The cancellation policy is the same regardless of payment method:
More than 24 hours before rental start: full refund of the reservation fee. For crypto payments, the refund is processed manually by our team because blockchain transactions cannot be automatically reversed. We will send the equivalent AED amount back to the wallet you paid from, converted at the live rate at the time of refund. Typical processing time is 2–5 business days.
Less than 24 hours before rental start, or no-show: the reservation fee (AED 495 or booking total if less) is forfeited. No refund is issued.
Important: because crypto refunds involve manual processing and exchange rate fluctuations, the amount you receive back may be slightly different from the amount you originally paid in crypto terms — though the AED value will match. If you paid 0.05 BTC when BTC was at AED 350,000, and by the time we process the refund BTC is at AED 370,000, you will receive approximately 0.048 BTC (the AED equivalent). This is standard for crypto refunds across all merchants.
Frequently Asked Questions About Crypto Car Rental
Do I need a crypto wallet to rent a car? Yes — you need a wallet that can send the specific cryptocurrency you choose. Any self-custody wallet (Metamask, Trust Wallet, Ledger) or exchange wallet (Coinbase, Binance) works. We do not accept direct exchange-to-exchange transfers because the payment address is invoice-specific.
Can I pay the entire rental in crypto, not just the reservation fee? Currently the crypto payment covers the reservation fee at booking. The remaining balance is paid in person on pickup day via cash, card, or bank transfer. We are working on full-crypto payment for the complete rental amount — contact us if this is important to you.
What if my crypto payment does not confirm within the invoice time window? The NOWPayments invoice typically allows 20 minutes. If the blockchain is congested and your transaction has not confirmed within that window, the invoice may expire. In most cases NOWPayments will still detect the payment once it confirms and credit it automatically. If not, contact us with your transaction hash and we will resolve it manually.
Is my booking confirmed immediately after I send the crypto? The booking confirms once the blockchain transaction has the required number of confirmations (1 for BTC, 12 for ETH, 1 for USDT). This takes 10–30 minutes for Bitcoin and 2–5 minutes for Ethereum. You will receive a confirmation email automatically.
Can I get a receipt for my crypto payment? Yes — the confirmation email includes a booking reference, the AED amount, the crypto amount, and the transaction hash. This serves as your receipt. The NOWPayments invoice page also remains accessible with full transaction details.
