The Car Itself
Porsche has been building the 911 since 1963. Sixty-odd years of development have made it one of the most refined sports cars on the planet, and the Turbo S sits right at the top of the range.
The numbers: a twin-turbocharged 3.7-litre flat-six making 640 horsepower, 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds, all-wheel drive, rear-axle steering, and active aerodynamics. Those are hypercar figures, but unlike most hypercars, the 911 Turbo S is a car you could genuinely use every day without any hassle.
What Makes It Special
Most supercars are compromised in some way. They are too loud to hold a conversation, too stiff to deal with speed bumps, or too impractical to carry anything more than a wallet. The Turbo S has none of those problems. The interior has proper leather, a good sound system from either Bose or Burmester, strong air conditioning, and a front boot that fits a weekend bag.
You can cruise it comfortably on Sheikh Zayed Road and then roll through JBR at walking pace without feeling like you are fighting the car. The PDK gearbox is almost telepathic in how it picks ratios, and the adaptive suspension actually works over rough surfaces. It does the supercar thing and the daily driver thing equally well, which is rare.
